Mateo de la Torre is a trans advocate and strategist advancing trans political power and collective liberation across borders. His work focuses on challenging the criminalization of trans lives and building movements that center leadership, joy, and self-determination. Originally from Tijuana, Mexico, he serves as Deputy Director of Global Programs at the LGBTQ+ Victory Institute, leading regional initiatives to strengthen LGBTIQ+ political participation in Latin America and the Caribbean through research, training, and advocacy. Bridging grassroots organizing with institutional access, Mateo designs programs and tools that connect LGBTQI+ people to the political power they need to lead and transform their communities.
