Miguel Mesquita is a human rights specialist at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. He is responsible for the monitoring LGBTI, women, afro-descendants, persons with disabilities and indigenous peoples’ human rights. Moreover, he is charge for the monitoring of South America countries at the IACHR. For over 11 years, he has worked on human rights issues in different positions and organizations in the civil society, academia, and governance. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and is a Chevening Alumni with a Master of Laws (LLM) in Human Rights from Birkbeck College, University of London, in the UK.
