Essy Adhiambo, is the Executive Director of Initiative for Equality and Non Discrimination(INEND), an LBQ led organisation based in Mombasa,Kenya that promoted human rigths of sexual and gender minorities. Previoulsy, she led teh development of a training program and blue print for sentitising religous leaders on compassion and love, a project ttha saw the most homophobic leaders in Mombasa, turning to work with LGBTIQ+ persons. Essy has engaged with the judiciary, police, media, and well known perpertrators of violence the boda boda operators in shifting norms and changing attitudes/attitudes. Essy is a felow of the Human Rights Advicates Priogram at Columbia Univerity(2014), She was featured in the HIVOS bold and powerful woment for change: East Africa Campaign(2017)Upinde Awards Shujaa Nominee(2017), Human Rights Defender of the year nominee(2017)Winner Upinde Awards, Shujaa category (2022)
