Miguel Mesquita is a senior human rights specialist at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), where he coordinates monitoring work across the Americas on equality, non-discrimination, and the rights of LGBTI persons, women, Afro-descendant persons, Indigenous Peoples, and persons with disabilities. He also monitors the human rights situation in South American countries. With over 14 years of experience across civil society, academia, and public institutions, he holds an LL.B. and M.Phil. from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and an LL.M. in Human Rights from Birkbeck, University of London.
