Jason Jones is a Trinidadian-British LGBTQ+ human rights defender with four decades ofactivism. Born in Port of Spain, he relocated to London in 1985 and co-founded The LambdaGroup in 1992 — the first LGBTQ+ advocacy organisation in the southern Caribbean. In2017, he launched a landmark legal challenge to Sections 13 and 16 of Trinidad andTobago's Sexual Offences Act, winning a historic High Court ruling in 2018 thatdecriminalised same-sex intimacy. After the Court of Appeal overturned that victory in 2025,Jones took his fight to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council — the first LGBTQ+decriminalisation case ever heard there. A ruling in his favour could free over 50 millionpeople across at least ten Commonwealth nations.
