Bishop Gene Robinson is the first openly gay and partnered priest to be elected Bishop in historic Christianity, in The Episcopal Church (the American branch of the world-wide Anglican Communion), on 7 June, 2003.  He is the author of two books and the subject of two feature-length documentaries.  In 2009, Barack Obama invited him to pray at the opening event of the president’s inauguration.  He has long been an advocate and activist for the full civil rights of all members of the Queer community, as well as for the world’s most vulnerable and oppressed people.”
