About the spreaker
Michael Brinkschroeder (b. 1967) is a gay Catholic theologian and sociologist from Munich, Germany. He works as officer for Queerpastoral (Queer Ministry) in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising and is co-chair of the national task force (Catholic) Queerpastoral. In 1991 he initiated the Study Group Gay Theology. Currently, he chairs the Roman Catholic Working Group of the European Forum of LGBTI+ Christian Groups and works as volunteer in several organisations of LGBTI+ Christians in Germany (HuK, Out in Church, Katholisches LSBT+ Komittee). His doctoral dissertation, "Sodom als Symptom", is a genealogy of Christian homophobia. He co-edited several books about gay/queer theology and LGBTI+ and Christian churches, e.g. "Schwule Theologie" (2007), "Aufgehende Saat" (2017), "Out in Church - Für eine Kirche ohne Angst" (2022).
