Ministerio de Política Territorial y Memoria DemocráticaCarmina Gustrán Loscos holds a degree in History from the University of Zaragoza, a Master of Arts in Culture, Policy and Management from City University of London, and a European PhD in Contemporary History under joint supervision by the University of Zaragoza and the Université de Nantes (France). She combines her career as a historian with extensive experience as a cultural manager. As an academic, she has worked at the University of Leeds, Newcastle University and the University of Zaragoza. Her research focuses on the study of the relationships between history, politics, culture and society, particularly in contemporary Spain, most notably in her monograph Francoism in Spanish Cinema (1975–2000), published by Marcial Pons in 2022. As a cultural manager, she has also worked on the planning and production of interesting knowledge-transfer initiatives, such as the cultural programme for the European RISE research project “Narratives of Crisis and Renewal” at Newcastle University; and the exhibition “The Silenced Famine: Hunger during the post-war Franco era (1939–1952)” at the University of Granada. She has experience in managing major conferences and events, such as the 5th and 6th Ibero-American Culture Conferences (Ministry of Culture: Zaragoza, 2013; Costa Rica, 2014); and in coordinating cultural centres (Condeduque Cultural Centre, Madrid City Council, 2019–2021; Caixaforum Zaragoza, 2015–2016), where she was responsible for coordinating teams and artists, overseeing budgets and managing communications.
