ALEXANDRA R DeRuiz (She/Her)
Alexandra is a native of Mexico City where she is currently living and identifies as a transfeminine person. She is Program Director at La Jauría Trans, a virtual activism and support program for trans and Gender Diverse people in Mexico City. She is also a freelance consultant and researcher in Gender and Sexuality, and an English teacher and translator.
She studied Psychology at the City College of San Francisco, has an English Language Teaching certification with the University of Dayton, completed the TEACH (Trans Education and Training Assistance in Trans Health) training at Bangkok Thailand, and studied Literature and Writing at the University of El Claustro de Sor Juana in Mexico City.
A published author in Spain, the United States and Mexico, Alexandra promotes visibility to the problems of LGBTQI+, and advocates for the Human Rights of trans migrants who transit through Mexico on their way to the border with the United States, trans Sex Workers, trans mature adults, and trans people living with HIV.
Alexandra is a creative consultant and her main focus is to increase visibility around the human rights challenges transgender people faces in Mexico and on public awareness, community advocacy, and documenting patterns of discrimination, violence, and barriers to justice caused by the perpetual transfobia that is inbuilt in society and within the system, including local police and within the legal system.
