Omar van Reenen is a Namibian human rights defender, movement strategist, and co-founder of Equal Namibia, the country’s largest youth-led civil rights movement sinceindependence. They serve as Strategic Alliances and Coalition Building Officer at ILGAWorld, advancing collaboration between LGBTQI+, feminist, democracy, climate justice, andhuman rights movements globally. Omar’s advocacy contributed to landmark court victories,including the recognition of same-sex marriages concluded abroad and the decriminalizationof apartheid-era sodomy laws in Namibia.
