About the spreaker
Dante Alencastre is a Los Angeles–based filmmaker, artist, and cultural organizer whose work centers on storytelling as a tool for social change. His practice uplifts LGBTQ+, immigrant, and HIV-affected communities, with a focus on preserving marginalized histories and amplifying voices often excluded from mainstream narratives. He is the director and producer of AIDS Diva: The Legend of Connie Norman, a documentary highlighting the life of a pioneering transgender AIDS activist and ACT UP/LA spokesperson. Dante’s work bridges art, public health, and community engagement through film screenings, public programs, and collaborative cultural initiatives. He has worked with grassroots organizations and advocacy groups to create spaces for dialogue around HIV/AIDS, stigma, and social justice.
