About the spreaker
Özgür Gür is the co-founder and Executive Director of ÜniKuir Association, a youth-led LGBTI+ organization working for safer, freer, and more equal universities in Turkey. Born in 1995, he studied at Middle East Technical University, where he was active in METU LGBTİ+ Solidarity and broader student movements, later becoming the university’s last elected Student Council President. Since 2020, he has worked on ÜniKuir’s advocacy, community-building, media, monitoring, and sustainability work, helping the organization become a key national actor supporting LGBTI+ youth groups across Turkey. He also serves on the board of the Rainbow Coalition and on the Board of ILGA-Europe, where he is Secretary General. His work focuses on youth leadership, campus organizing, freedom of association, democratic participation, and strengthening LGBTI+ civil society under authoritarian and anti-gender pressures.
